Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager Nursing Services, the Assistant Nurse Manager Inpatient Nursing is responsible for the coordination of all patient care activities for the Medical/Surgical Unit (East Wing), Skilled Unit. Complies with Federal, State and local regulatory bodies to meet the patient care standards.
Responsibilities:
+ Supervises the work activities of the Inpatient Nursing Unit.
+ Interviews, hires and trains staff; provides input into performance evaluations and provides feedback; makes personnel action recommendations (e.g. promotions, transfers, disciplinary, discharge).
+ Assists in developing and revises standards of care for specific unit patient population.
+ Assists in developing unit specific policies and procedures.
+ Collaborates with nursing and medical staffs to assure coordination of medical and nursing aspects of patients care.
+ Establishes, monitors, and identifies an effective Performance Improvement program for the Nursing Unit.
+ Evaluates quality of patient care, monitors standards of practice of the nursing staff.
+ Conducts and maintains an effective Utilization review program, working the Health System to maintain compliance and accountability of regulations and standards.
+ Facilitates billing compliance and participates in the effective management of the revenue cycle.
+ Provides direct care to patients, as needed, to maintain clinical skills, to assess particular and age-specific patient care needs or for purpose of instruction.
+ Coordinates referrals and patient flow.
+ Reviews unit operational budget and monthly variance report.
+ Conducts unit staff meetings.
+ Communicates patient care issues and other significant situations to Manager, Nursing Services, in a timely manner, including being responsible for patient complaints and patient satisfaction.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
+ Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
Certifications:
+ RN license in Ohio.
Complexity of Work:
+ Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Work Experience:
+ Three years relevant clinical experience.
+ Two years management experience.
+ Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with members of the health care team.
Physical Requirements:
+ Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
+ Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
+ Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
+ Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
