Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Housekeeping, the Housekeeping Aide is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms in assigned work areas according to established policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Performs cleaning duties in assigned areas as instructed, according to cleaning schedule for that area (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) in a manner that does not interfere with patient care or privacy.
+ Sweeps, Vacuums, dry mops, wet mops, and disinfects as required in each area daily. Strips and waxes floors, and runs high-speed floor buffer as needed. Dusts, damp wipes, spot cleans, washes, disinfects, polishes all surfaces and equipment as required according to cleaning schedule. Cleans light fixtures and Straightens and rearranges furniture as directed.
+ Removes all waste, trash and disposes of it properly. Removes all soiled linens when necessary and puts it in designated area for pick-up.
+ Carries out terminal cleaning procedures when patient is discharged. Prepares room for new occupant. Changes cubicle curtains as needed.
+ Mops floors after each surgical procedure. Performs cleaning duties in surgery area as assigned. Takes call for surgery on a rotating basis.
+ Cleans linen supply room and assists with other cleaning duties in the laundry as directed, Sorts all clean linens and stocks carts for linen distribution for all departments. Checks floor linen supplies and distributes as needed.
+ Ensures that carts and other equipment are clean and functioning properly prior to use. Cleans carts after daily use according to established procedures.
+ Keeps Manager informed of housekeeping needs and problems in assigned work area.
+ Keeps up-to-date in housekeeping techniques, supplies and equipment as directed by supervisor.
+ Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.
+ Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
+ Other duties as assigned
